I envision this website as an online archive of traditional Italian folk music from Southern Italy. This web page is the natural follow up to my feature length documentary about the subject, Zampogna: The Soul of Southern Italy. I have been experiencing and playing Italian music for the past several years, continually learning more about this rich and rewarding art form. I hope that my film and this website help to elevate this music in the minds and hearts of Italians and Italian Americans. This music has been neglected for too long, often dismissed as unimportant or shameful. This website, will be a repository of my field work in Italy, free to the public. It will contain video and music as well as my field notes and observations on my recordings and experiences. I hope that my work and its content inspire more Italians and Italian Americans to engage in this beautiful aspect of Italian history and identity. The site is currently under construction.
